Who Will Sit?

The Moncton Wildcats coaching staff will have to make two very difficult decisions not only this weekend, but for the foreseeable future.

Who’s going to be the odd man out?

Which overager is going to be in the stands?

Which valued twenty year old won’t play?

It’s a decision that no major junior team ever wants to make, but it is what it is for the Moncton Wildcats.

Who will sit?

Gabriel Fortier?

Jacob Hudson?

Tristan De Jong or Dakota Lund Cornish?

Fortier hasn’t seen any action as of yet for the Cats so they may elect to sit him out which is very unlikely.

Tristan De Jong is critical piece of the puzzle on the backend for the rebuilding Cats so one wouldn’t want to sit him in the stands.

Then there were two.

Obviously Lund Cornish will get the starts this weekend so one could speculate that Jacob Hudson the heart and soul of the team could be watching from the press box when the team takes the ice for the first time since March.

Hudson has been unbelievable for the Cats all preseason long.

He has done everything the coaching staff has asked for and more.

There’s no question those three players could in fact be part of the leadership group for the team as well.

The Wildcats are definitely in tough when it comes to carrying four twenty year olds.

From a hockey ops side every time a twenty sits it burns a card.

What does that mean?

Well it means that it burns the chance of another player being signed or able to suit up for the Cats.

Now they have tons of room and will undoubtedly carry four twenties for a long time, but that doesn’t make the it any easier for the player or organization.

The Cats four overagers are all high character people and players.

They are all leaders.

All eyes will be on the Cats social media and in the press box when to see which overager will sit out the teams much anticipated home opener.

With adversity comes opportunity.

Unfortunately for Dan Lacroix and the Wildcats they will have to scratch a twenty year every game until a final heart wrenching decision is made.

Wouldn’t it be great if every team could carry four twenty year olds and this wouldn’t even be a thing.

That certainly almost happened this year, but it appears the OHL rule against it.

Who’s in?

Who’s out?

Until a final decision is made, Wildcat fans and local media will be asking that question a lot.
