As the anticipation grows every Moncton Wildcat fan wants to know who will be on the organizations 34/36 man Training Camp roster.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Everyone wants to know if the delay in releasing the roster is an indication on the teams intended direction.
Historically the Moncton Wildcats have never been in a big rush to announce their Training Camp rosters.
Will there be surprises or perhaps some large omissions?
I haven’t got the slightest clue.
Let’s look at the facts.
Ritchie Thibeau and his staff did a phenomenal job at the draft.
They drafted potential impact players in every round in which they selected in June’s draft.
The subsequent trade with the Saint John Sea Dogs involving Liam Leonard slightly reduced the competition between the team’s remaining overager’s.
The Wildcats have made tough decisions regarding their 20’s in years gone by and one can project that being the case again this season with all the uncertainty regarding the potential return of Benoit Olivier Groulx, Gabriel Fortier, Jared McIsaac and Olivier Rodrigue.
The big question that everyone is asking is who will be back if any?
You see that’s why the release of their training camp roster will be so telling.
Will there be surprises?
There might be, but we just don’t know.
So this is what we do know.
Wildcats beat writer Neil Hodge wrote an article on the Wildcats new crop of free agent invitees on July 21st.
Obviously that list might have changed due to the reduction of Training Camp numbers.
Like every year around the QMJHL the last few players that are unfortunately released boils down to a numbers game.
Speaking of number games, the CHL is still considering four overagers.
The CHL’s decision will drastically impact Thibeau’s thought process regarding their 20’s.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Thibeau will be no doubt be confronted by many this season.
For now we all play the waiting game.
Sure we all may have heard rumours and rumblings of who is in quarantine for the Cats or those that are on the coveted list, but it’s too early for anyone to know what direction the Cats will elect to go.
Inquiring minds want to know, but inquiring minds will have to be patient and wait.
What about the release date of the Cats Training Camp Roster?
I’ve heard some rumblings, but for now every Cat fan have probably reset their Twitter notifications so they will be the first to see the list.
