Multiple Sources

I know how the game is played, I’ve been playing it for awhile now.

Knowing who to trust and asking the tough questions at the right time is critical.

Knowing when to publish or when not to, really depends on an individual’s moral compass.

I’ve been lied to before, that’s nothing new.

I’ve been lied to, but not by my sources.

If I’ve learned anything over the past few years covering the game there comes a time to write, speak up and keep my mouth shut.

My latest journalist dilemma is pretty basic.

Trust my sources and publish or sit on the potential scoop and let that story pass me by?

To be brutally honest the article is already written.

It’s ready to go.

All I have to do click publish and add a picture.

It’s all there.

256 words and that’s it will take!

I find myself at a crossroads once again.

By no means is it breaking news, but you can bet your ass it’s definitely noteworthy.

Why the hell aren’t I going to do anything?

Why am I weighing all of the pros and cons instead of hitting publish?

Why can’t I bring myself to publish it?

Who could I possibly hurt?

What relationship am I going to jeopardize by putting it out there?

I guess it’s all coming back to White Snake!

“Here I go again on my own, Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known, And I’ve made up my mind, I ain’t wasting no more time”

Is it time to walk alone?

Is it time to trust my sources, publish it and not give a shit!

or

Is it time just to sit back and let it all unfold knowing I could have been out in front of it right from the get go?

I trust my sources.

Off the record is off the record.

I’m well aware of that, it’s everything in this business.

Just like a person’s integrity and word.

That shit still means something.

For now I wait.

256 words away from creating a stir.

256 words away from potentially breaking the story with the right sources to back it up.

For now I wait, ready to hit publish at any time.

The fight for credibility is one thing, the search to the truth and the real story is another.

Multiple sources mean something, they always have and they always will.

It’s also means I’m incredibly close.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire!

Whenever someone says “You better check your sources”, that only adds fuel to the fire!

I may have been intimidated once before, but now I’m just getting fired up.

256 words might get published very soon.
