Anderson MacDonald is a Saint John Sea Dog

Per TVA’s Mikael Lalancette the Saint John Sea Dogs have signed free agent winger Anderson MacDonald.

The veteran forward joined the team on the road yesterday.

MacDonald had initially been put on waivers by the Acadia-Bathurst Titan on Monday and was originally claimed by the Gatineau Olympiques.

The Olympiques had twenty-four hours to sign MacDonald.

The two parties couldn’t reach anagreement in that time frame.

At that point the Titan could have opted to keep MacDonald on their protected list, which they didn’t, in turn making the high scoring veteran winger eligible to become a free agent.

Today is the deadline for all QMJHL rosters to be finalized and submitted to the league.

MacDonald showed tremendous courage last May when he openly shared his struggles with ADHD and subsequent battle with anxiety and depression

In 185 career games the Quispamsis, New Brunswick product has 79 goals and 49 assists.

It’s unclear if MacDonald will make his Sea Dog debut tonight or on Sunday at TD Station when the Sea Dogs face the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
