The Wait is Over Axel Andersson is Coming to Moncton

Months of speculation and anticipation has ended.

Axel Andersson is coming to Moncton. The organization denied to confirm Andersson’s arrival, but his arrival is imminent.

The highly touted import defencemen was scratched for a pair weekend games for the Providence Bruins.

The 19 year old smooth skating defender will be a difference maker for Moncton Wildcats who are loading up for a run at Junior hockey supremacy.

The Boston Bruins 2nd rounder is slated to arrive in the Hub City on Tuesday and it’s still unknown if he will be ready for Wednesday nights tilt against the Cape Breton Eagles.

Andersson’s arrival comes mire days before the deadline for final decisions regarding import players.

As for the impact the Swedish born offensive defencemen will have on the Wildcats D-corps it’s simple, it’s a game changer.

Andersson brings top end speed, elite level skill and hockey IQ to the position and has the potential to be a point a game player in the QMJHL.

There’s no question the addition of Andersson is the pivot point of the Cats entire season.

I know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s true, one defencemen can be that important, one player can make a difference.

The addition of Andersson makes the Cats defensive corps lethal to say the least.

Andersson will bring a much-needed complimentary offensive presence to the right side. He will also add another transitional presence, which is still lacking in the Cats lineup and bring a calming presence to the team’s power play.

The Cats use a one d, one forward scheme on their power play, I can see Andersson taking over and quarterbacking the teams 2nd unit, where he could quite possibly be the trigger man.

Andersson’s presence frees up Jordan Spence significantly who has been logging massive minutes for the Cats to start the season.

It’s clear Axel Andersson is a gamechanger.

Four days ago the Wildcats seemed destine for mediocrity, but this is a perfect example of how fast things can change in Major Junior hockey.

Within four days the Cats got their top scorer back from the pro ranks and landed potentially one of the best import defencemen in the CHL.

The Wildcats organization will have less work to do now at the trade period, but look for the Cats to acquire another top six forward and may also elect to add another two defencemen to make sure they have enough depth for the championship run.

Axel Andersson is coming to Moncton.
