Week 2 in the NB high school football league was another fun one. The results have been surprising in some cases, and it’s making things extremely interesting in all 3 divisions this season. The blowouts are at an all-time low and that is something the NBIAA should be very pleased with. All of the 3 divisions featured some very fast paced, tight football games that came right down to the wire. The most important thing is that the kids are competing in close football games and the level of competition is much closer than previous years. It will draw much more attention and interest from younger kids so we can keep this beautiful sport going. I was also told by Wray and Andy that many people are trying to discover the identity of our 3 NB high school football analysts. I write these blogs to get people talking and draw interest, so I guess this means I am doing something right! As for who the 3 analysts are, this shall remain a mystery for years to come!
Division 1 saw the Tantramar Titans go to 1-0 and remain on top of the NB high school football world as they defeated the Moncton High Purple Knights 27-10 in Sackville on Saturday. The Leo Hayes Lions also opened their season with 10-7 victory over their town rival Fredericton High Black Kats and the other game saw the Saint John High Greyhounds down the Riverview Royals in thriller 28-25 in Riverview,
In division 2, the Harrison Trimble Trojans kept things rolling on Thursday night with a 11-2 victory over the KVHS Crusaders. Friday night saw the L’Odyssee overcome an injury to their starting quarterback and hang for a gritty 24-16 victory over the BMHS Highlanders. The St. Malachy’s Memorial Saints handed a tough loss to the Oromocto Blues that came down to the last play of the night. Saturday saw the St. Stephen Spartans get their first victory of the season as they defeated the Simonds Seabees 14-12, and the Sainte-Anne Castors beating a well prepared Mathieu-Martin Matadors team 23-6 that were able to hold the Tremblay brothers in check. The Matadors are a work in progress and looked really good on Saturday, and Sainte Anne offensive coach Alex Blouin had great things to say about them after the clash.
“I told their defensive coordinator I had a headache trying to figure out exactly how to score on that defence. At one point I had to design a play from the side line. The Matadors came out prepared today, they have a good staff and good young players”
Division 3 saw the Sussex Regional Sonics win a close battle over the Harbour View Vikings 7-6 on Friday night. James M. Hill Tommies blanked the Hampton Huskies 13-0 on Saturday afternoon and the Miramichi Valley high School Pulamoo lost to the Rothesay Redhawks 48 to 20 in a very offensive contest.
Let’s get to this week’s predictions that have been less than easy for our 3 analysts this season as their records are much closer than they were last year, here is what they think!

As per usual, voice your opinions and let us hear your predictions! Oh, and keep trying to figure out if Wray, Andy and Denis are the 3 analysts or not 🙂 Get out and catch some great football. We do this #FORTHEKIDS.
There’s no question it’s extremely difficult to predict results when there have been very few games played to date. I look forward to watching the results as they pour in throughout the season
