Going Out With Bang?

Gordie Dwyer and the Acadia-Bathurst Titan might just go out with a bang!

Depending on what direction Dwyer wants to take in the final weeks of the trade period will undoubtedly determine how things play out for the Titan.

Everyone knows how the story will end, but the final chapters could be very intriguing.

If Dwyer decides to stay status quo the Titan will be a very difficult out come playoff time.

Obviously, everyone will look at the current standings and all of the analytics, stats and perhaps suggest different, but the Titan are built to win in the playoffs.

With that being said if Dwyer decides to offload assets the Titan will be a very good young team that will play with pace and urgency, but will lose their share of games coming down the stretch to end the franchises tenure in the region.

There’s no question Dwyer has some tough decisions to make, but as previously mentioned in another recent article through all of the ups and downs and uncertainty Dwyer has done an excellent job at building out a quality team with a lot of young talent and draft picks.

If the Titan stay status quo and make no moves, critics might point to their lack of size as a playoff deterrent, but they play with a refreshing edge and grit. Of course the tale of the tape doesn’t lie and they’re “small” up front, but they sure as hell don’t play small and won’t back down from anything.

The Titan blueline when composed and patient are tough to play against, very mobile, transition pucks and play with a lot of pace. Their skating ability and agility make them tough to hem down on the forecheck. They’re very elusive back their and definitely move pucks effectively and efficiently. When they extend shifts and only go to three or four deep on specialty teams that’s when they become vulnerable.

Their goaltending is very solid with Flemming and their newest acquisition, but again it remains to be seen what direction they will decide to take.

There’s a big difference being a contender and being a team that’s a tough out.

Right now as is the Titan are one team that not a lot of teams would like to face especially if there’s high expectations or if they’re vying for a long championship run.

The Titan are well balanced, fast, skilled and gritty enough to wreak havoc in the playoffs.

The Titan know exactly who and what they are which is undoubtedly their biggest strength as a hockey club and is exactly what makes them a very dangerous.

The Titan don’t deviate from their identity which is a sign of a great coach and character players.

Nevertheless, those attributes are very attractive for league contenders looking to load up for a championship run.

You see the Titan have a number of skilled and character players that could step into any lineup of a contender and potentially put them over the top.

It’s not fair to start naming names, of potential assets or trade targets but there’s no question Dwyer’s phone has probably been blowing up with other teams trying to put something together.

The destiny of 2024-2025 Acadia-Bathurst Titan has already been determined, but there’s still a lot of hockey to be played and questions surrounding the trade period to be answered.
