Islanders Looking For a “Peach” of A Deal?

Are the Charlottetown Islanders and the Sherbrooke Phoenix future trade partners?

There’s no question the Islanders are in need of more scoring depth within their top six.

There might also be some significant help coming on the Islanders backend as well in the upcoming weeks.

For now it’s pure speculation, but that might all change in the next few days and upcoming weeks.

Ever since the Daniel Sprong era Jim Hulton‘s group have seemed to have had to work extra hard to score goals.

That’s what makes this rumour and potential deal so intriguing for the championship caliber Isles.

Two sources today reported the Isles are looking at potentially acquiring the services of Bailey Peach from the Phoenix.

Obviously, things are heating up with the QMJHL Trade Period scheduled to open very soon. The potential addition of Peach makes perfect sense for the Isles.

There’s no question the gritty skilled forward would be a solid addition for Hulton’s hard nosed skilled group.

Beach plays fast and isn’t scared to go to the dirty areas of the ice to score and create time and space for his line mates.

The Falmouth, Nova Scotia product is coming off a career year with the Phoenix after a couple of tough seasons battling injuries.

The 19-year-old forward had 19 goals and 27 assists in 52 games a season ago.

There is also some speculation that the Isles are also going to make a big push to acquire another game breaking defenceman.

With Justin Barron and Jordan Spence on the market the Islanders could potentially be looking to land one of them for the second half.

It remains to be seen what direction the Isles will go, but the Islanders faithful will have to stay patient until the end of the World Juniors to find out which highly touted Maritime elite level defenceman they are in on. Either way the Charlottetown Islanders are definitely looking to add significant pieces to make a run at a President Cup.
