The veteran ref suffered a serious injured late in the 2018 season.
Lee returned to action in January of 2019 where he officiated two AHL games before he made his NHL season debut on February 4, working a game between the Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs.
It was a long road back for Chris Lee, but the veteran of 1171 National Hockey League games finds himself inside the bubble officiating his 72nd playoff game today between the Hurricanes and the Bruins.
Lee’s path to the NHL and subsequent return from injury a year and half ago showcases the 50 year old’s character, resiliency and unwavering passion for the game.
