Pelletier Remains Focused During Uncertain Times

Jakob Pelletier has played the game the right way all his entire life.

There’s no shortcuts when mentioning Pelletier’s game.

Game in game out, for the last three seasons Jakob Pelletier carried and lead the Moncton Wildcats.

Pelletier quickly became a cornerstone for a franchise looking to get back on the winning track and championship trajectory after a monumental rebuild.

Class, skill, dignity, compete level and an unwavering will to win describes Jakob Pelletier the player and person.

In what very well might be his final year in the league, Jakob Pelletier won an award that truly defines his impact both on and off ice.

“It’s a great honour,” Pelletier said of winning the Frank J Selke Trophy for the QMJHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player.

“To play on the edge every night and be respectful of the opponent and the referee and play the game the right way every night is one of my main assets.”

“That’s what I’m trying to do each game for sure,” Pelletier said.

Pelletier turned in yet another brilliant season with the Wildcats.

The diminutive high scoring winger is arguably the most complete player in the QMJHL and has been for quite sometime.

That’s what makes the end of this season so difficult to comprehend.

Pelletier and his Wildcats were projected to win it all this season after going all in.

Pelletier carried the Cats back to respectability since his arrival in the Hub City in 2017-2018.

“Moncton is home,” confessed the Wildcats Captain and Calgary Flames first rounder.

“It was heartbreaking to see the season end like that,” confessed Pelletier.

“We had a great group of people and a great group of players who were ready to achieve something big in Moncton.”

“We all knew that.”

“It’s hard, but it’s part of life and we have to move on.”

With so much uncertainty surrounding the game and life right now Jakob Pelletier is trying to stay positive and work extremely hard to accomplish his dream of playing in the NHL.

“Right now I’m trying to train the best I can.”

“It’s hard being in the gym without a trainer, but I’m trying to figure out some new stuff.”

“There is a lot of question marks for me.”

“If I come back in the Q, am I going to get traded at the Draft or at the deadline.”

“We are going to know or have that answer so enough.”

“Either we come back in September or in January, but my main focus is on playing in the NHL.”

“I think I have to be ready if the chance is there,” stressed Pelletier.
