Could the Boston Bruins and the Ottawa Senators be talking trade?
David Backes would be a solid fit for the young Ottawa Senators.
Backes could provide veteran leadership on and off the ice while bringing some grit to the Senators, plus they have tons of cap space.

Who would the B’s be targeting on the Senators roster?
How much would the Bruins have to retain on the Backes contract to make it happen and what else would the Senators want in return?
If I’m the Boston Bruins, I’m targeting Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
Pageau would be a perfect fit on Krejci’s right side.
Obviously, the Bruins are going to have to retain a significant portion of the contract if they want to move Backes, nevertheless is it time for Don Sweeney to unload some of the Bruins Prospect’s down on the farm?
The Senators hold all the cards and would probably be looking to get two additional pieces in the deal.

Pageau for Backes, a Prospect and a Draft Pick?
Realistically long term the B’s would probably lose that deal, but it’s all about the present and finding a solid two-way highly skilled top six versatile forward.
In 50 games this season Pageau has 20 goals, 12 assists and is +12.
