Changing of the Guard

The Halifax Mooseheads dismantling continues.

Junior hockey’s dreaded cycle is in full effect in Moose Country.

Don’t worry they know how to do it and do it right.

The Mooseheads brain trust have already traded away the likes of Benoit-Oliver Groulx, Jared McIsaac, Raphael Lavoie, Patty Kyte, Walter Flower, Maxim Trepanier and now it appears that Alexis Gravel may have played his final game for Moose as well.

The 19-year-old veteran netminder was pulled after two periods in yesterday’s loss to the Saint John Sea Dogs adding to the speculation that a trade had been finalized.

Gravel has had a stellar run back stopping the Herd over the years.

So if the rumours are true about a possible trade, which contending team in the QMJHL could use a veteran netminder?

Well that remains to be seen.

Nevertheless, Cam Russell and his staff have an amazing track record at building championship caliber teams within a two and half or three year window.

It was inevitable that the Moose would be sellers this year, but you can almost guarantee the Mooseheads will be vaulting up the QMJHL standings in a few short years given the return on some of these deals.

The Mooseheads will no doubt land two very impactful imports during this years import draft coupled with the young talent they will acquire through some of these deals, they will bounce back quicker than ever.

The second half of the 2019-2020 season will be full of ups and downs for the Moose, don’t worry they have been there before, they know how to do it and do it right.

The changing of guard continues.
