CFL POWER RANKINGS – AFTER WEEK 9

Here’s our CFL Power Rankings following week 9 brought to you by Moose Light and Doyle Corporate Image!

Wray’s Quick Take

Winnipeg takes over 1st once again and is still the favourite to win the West. Edmonton stays at 3 with their win over Ottawa and Saskatchewan stays 4th with a win that was provided by Mother Nature. Montreal slips this week in my rankings as they are just not the same team since the bye week and it does not help that Adams Jr. is on the bench.

Andy’s Quick Take

It didn’t feel right having Calgary in the top spot last week, so they swap places with the Bombers after coming up short in Winnipeg. They should probably only drop down to #2 but I am not going to drop the Riders after a win, despite it being questionable. Otherwise the rest of my list remains completely unchanged.

  1. Seems odd that Hamilton has beaten 3 out of the 4 teams (not played Edmonton yet) ahead of them yet are still ranked 5th even though they have same record as team ranked #1. Hard to take you seriously with logic like this. Ticats should be ranked #1 or 2 at worst thus far.

    1. Those 3 wins you speak of, and the bulk of that record, was with a different person starting at the most important position in sports. I guess we are trying to project what they are now versus what they were. I wanted to move them up this week but a 1 pt victory over the worst team in the league wasn’t quite enough. It’s ok if you don’t take these (or any) power rankings seriously… they are an excersise that serves only to get discussion going and presents one person’s opinion of which teams are better that which. So it works I guess. I present to you my logic in having them where I did. I respect that you feel they should be higher. #1 seems like a stretch to me but it’s not a crazy thought.

      1. We’ve won 2 of 3 games with Evan’s as the starter. Just no respect for the other 23 starters on the team plus the best special teams in the league.

      2. 2 out of the 3? Didn’t Masoli start that Winnipeg game and build a 14 pt lead for Evans before exiting? I realize Evans played more of the game but did he score more of the points? Anyways, I can totally understand why a Hamilton fan would not like their spot!

      3. Hmmm come to think of it, Evans may have punched in a td from the goal line when Masoli was still playing… which gives you an interesting argument to make I suppose 🙂
