It’s go time as the New Brunswick High School Football league kicks off this Thursday, and it could not come soon enough for the fans around New Brunswick. This year, I will be having tons of fun with this weekly prediction article. This will easily be the hardest week for this activity, as we have yet to see any schools in action. Also, as I mentioned in my previous articles, the movement of teams between both leagues (10-man and 12-man) this season muddies the waters as well.
Thursday night, the season kicks off when the Moncton High Purple Knights host the Leo Hayes Lions of Fredericton. The game I have circled however, is the Friday night game between first year Ecole Sainte-Anne (Castors) of Fredericton, who are travelling to take on the Bernice Macnaughton Highlanders on Friday night at McKenna field in Moncton. The defending champion Tantramar Titans open up the season at home against the Saint John High School Greyhounds. It’s going to be a great day for football in Sackville, as the Titans play right before the Mount Allison Mounties, which explains that early start time!

These 12-man predictions were the easy ones this week. The 10-man league is much larger, and more intriguing this season, as we have teams here that could (and perhaps Should) blow out some of the competition. However, I really don’t think that will be the case as often as many fans expect.
