In the wonderful world of social media, everyone has a platform or a voice. We all know that going in, but it’s getting even more murky than ever before, but somehow everyone still follows community sites, or their favourite source knowing that a large percentage of what’s reported is complete and utter bull shit, but it’s still something to latch on to, whether it’s for hype, hope, something to agree or disagree with or just to swoop in and read the comment section for entertainment.

It doesn’t really matter what the subject area is or topic our society is so trusting of anything and everything they see nowadays and the second they can share, comment, agree/disagree or discredit the subject area or topic the good old surge of dopamine hits hard. We are all guilty of it, we are all addicted. Even those that never comment or say they don’t participate, they are still searching away or go on “recon” missions for the next update or post to find.
Remember the days where our parents taught us not to believe everything we heard. Remember when we only believed things of you saw it with your own eyes. Well the good social media has you covered with that right, one picture, a well worded post and bang it’s “hook, line and sinker.”
You see no one considers the source anymore, even if it’s a reputable one, we doubt it, because “Oh I saw a post on Facebook saying the complete opposite, so that news agency has to be full of shit.”
“Consider the source” is a thing of the past, it’s not like a 70’s or 80’s fashion trend or something that you keep hanging in hopes of it coming back into style it’s gone, actually it’s being eradicated from everyone’s thought patterns.
Can you imagine what professional “coms” people must think when they see all this shit being put out there. They have to strategically post and write now to grab the attention of the audience in a way to not only justify and prove accuracy but also report the fact that people shouldn’t always be so gullible or downright stunned when sharing or believing information on social media.
It’s clear no one gives two sweet f@&ks about the “source” or how true the information actually is anymore, they just want more of it so they can share, comment or agree or disagree with it.
Earlier this year, I privately went to a “coms” person to congratulate them on an amazingly well written heartfelt post, they looked at me and said; “Thanks, but I didn’t write it, I used AI to generate most of it.”
We are in trouble people, and you don’t need a reliable source to figure that shit out.
