Searching For Answers, Searching For a Win

Searching for Answers, Searching for a Win

The Cape Breton Eagles came into the season with high expectations and a hockey club that is more than ready to live up to them. Some things go as planned, while others seemingly make no sense.

Winless in 6 games to start the season and now confronted with their first Quebec road trip of the year makes absolutely zero sense, but that’s where the Eagles currently find themselves.

Searching for answers or wins? The Eagles are trying to do both on the road which is nothing new for the QMJHL’s “Road Warriors”

That’s the right the Eagles undoubtedly or arguably are the most travelled team in the Q. That’s a badge of honour that certainly comes with a very high price literally and figuratively. Nevertheless, there’s a chance the Eagles could return home with nothing to show for with games against the Olymiques, Huskies and Foreurs.

You can use all the cliches you want right now about adversity and resiliency but that doesn’t get you very far in a league where every night is a challenge and unknown.

Is the Eagles start similar to that of the Edmonton Oilers a season ago? Will the Eagles respond with a valiant effort and secure their first win or wins of the season on the road?

The answers to those questions and many more are only going to come from within the room.

Sylvain Courturier pulled the trigger on a trade yesterday acquiring scoring forward Joseph Henneberry in exchange for Olivier Houde.

You see there’s no time like the present because things aren’t going to get any easier for a group with championship aspirations.

Are the Eagles more than capable of going on a big run and string together a bunch of wins? Hell yes.

Will that happen this weekend? Who knows?

You can talk about the lack of scoring touch, poor D zone coverage and break downs. You can make a ton of excuses for the subpar disappointing start. Nonetheless, you can’t question this teams resolve and character.

This group of young men have been through a lot in the last two seasons. They might be searching for answers and wins right now, but we still haven’t seen the full group together on the ice, but you can bet they are as tight as ever off of it.

The Cape Breton Eagles have a lot of pressure on them right now, but they have a group that can certainly rise above all of that and regain their confidence and swagger.

Searching for answers and wins, there’s no place better to do that than on the road.
