Bringing attention to issues in the game, usually results in a less than desirable outcome, actually the complete opposite. The undercurrent of resentment in the game portrayed by many of its “leaders” is truly deplorable.
Hockey’s code or shroud of secrecy is still in full effect.
There’s a perception out there that things are getting better from a cultural perspective, it’s worse, a lot worse, in some cases it’s borderline ridiculous.

Hockey’s code or shroud of secrecy is still in full effect. No one can say anything about it or describe what’s really going on in fear of drastically affecting the situation for the worse.
Sunshine and rainbows on the outside, total shit storm on the inside.
That’s right, for the worse.
No one dares to talk or speak up about all of the shit, because it won’t get better, it will get worse than before and in many cases just for plain spite.
Hockey culture has taken on an entirely new level and saying it’s incredibly difficult to navigate would be the understatement of the year.
Some leaders and organizations get it and are doing an amazing job, some not so much, but in this day and age just saying that might not be acceptable or tolerated.
It’s reached an entirely new level.
There are good people in the hockey world. Everyone knows the hockey world has its share of not so nice people, but that’s what makes the “good ones” so special.
You see you don’t always have to agree with someone to respect them and build a lasting friendship and relationship with them within the confines of the hockey world.
You don’t have to be with the same organization to respect or admire someone’s honesty, transparency, professionalism, character and friendship.
It’s when resentment takes to the forefront that’s when hockey’s default code sets in. That’s when things get bad, really bad and usually go to a whole new level.
