Friendly Foes Face Off in Round 1

The QMJHL is never short on storylines and the 1st round match between the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and the Moncton Wildcats definitely have its share. To say that Emile Guite and Caleb Desnoyers know each would be the understatement of the century.

The two former teammates/linemates know exactly what they can bring and they have been bringing it all year. Guite and Desnoyers are undoubtedly projected to be 1st round NHL Draft picks in 2025 and have surpassed all of the hype that have surrounded them coming into the QMJHL.

Guite is the epitome of a scoring power forward while Desnoyers is ultra crafty, competitive two-way centre that drives a team in all areas.

Both are equally gifted when it comes to putting the puck in the net, they just do it in different ways. The dynamic duo combined for 101 points in 42 games last year for the Saint Hyacinthe Gaulois of the Quebec Major Midget AAA League.

There’s no question these two highly touted prospects will be going head to head this series. You just know the competitive fire between these two former teammates will burn bright during this 1st round series. When players like this go head to head, the game takes on entirely new complexion.

From a scouting perspective this series will have it all with several top ranked 2025 NHL Draft prospects playing. You see there’s something about watching young players that understand the pressure and all of the attention and embrace that aspect and excel. Guite and Desnoyers have been doing that all season long which is an incredible feat.

Guite was 3rd in team scoring with 25 goals and 57 points in 61 games, while Desnoyers had 20 goals and 56 points in 60 games for the Wildcats.

Two future NHLers face off against each other for the first time in the QMJHL playoffs, we can only hope it won’t be the last!

Emile Guite and Caleb Desnoyers are the real deal! The future is now and very bright for the Wildcats and the Sags and their two high profile young stars.
