The rollercoaster ride continues for the Moncton Wildcats. The ups and downs are becoming more frequent than ever for a hockey club with high expectations.

Clearly it’s Major Junior hockey and you’re going to win some and lose some, but the peaks and valleys for the 2023-2024 Moncton Wildcats are pretty substantial right now.
If you strictly base things on the wins and losses things seems “normal.” Nevertheless, they’re far from.
The Wildcats tendencies or inconsistencies continue to widen hence producing a pretty “Wild Ride.”
Friday night’s 1st period versus the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies was arguably the team’s best period of hockey of the entire season. However, the final 40 revealed “more of the same.”
That trend continued today.
When teams experience “more of the same” on a consistent basis in a year with incredibly high expectations one would speculate things aren’t trending in the right direction on a number of levels.
Inconsistent play can be attributed to several causes, it’s pinpointing those issues and addressing them on the fly that will get things back on track. To prevent the “wild ride” from being prolonged it takes a full collective effort from top to bottom. In order to resolve and eradicate discrepancies or subsequent holes in the Cats game they will have to address several areas of concern.
Defensive structure, transition defence, speciality teams and managing situational play.
No one ever said a hockey season wouldn’t be full of ups and downs, it’s managing the peaks and valley’s and learning from them as they occur to strengthen the resolve of the group so the hockey club becomes adaptive and yet somewhat galvanized in order to compete under stressful conditions.
The Moncton Wildcats are experiencing a “wild ride” right now.
What adjustments will they make?
What lessons will they learn in the peaks and valleys?
The wild ride continues……
