The Maritimes may play host to the TELUS Cup for two years in a row.
A source revealed late Saturday night that a well known Major U-18 organization from the Maritimes have made a bid to host the prestigious event in 2021.
The horrific COVID-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the event this year which was supposed to be played in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec.
The Cape Breton post reported on May 27, 2020 that Hockey Canada confirmed Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec was being considered as the host city for the 2021 or 2023.
It’s unclear at this time how many organizations may have bid to host the event next spring.
The 2021 event was supposed to be hosted by the Sydney Rush, but Hockey Canada pushed that organizations hosting duties to 2022.
There’s no question the hockey community here in the Maritimes would benefit greatly from hosting the TELUS Cup for two consecutive years.
The 2017 Cape Breton West Islanders were the first and only Atlantic Canadian based team to ever win the TELUS Cup.
